Write Every Night

Challenge: Write Every Night In November (well almost!)

Let me explain!

Perhaps it is my need to declutter everything now that I am (hopefully) on the move to a new venue, perhaps it is the need to distract myself from how slow-moving house - moves; maybe its my latent desire to one day commit to NANOWRIMO but regardless of cause, I find myself conjuring up a new project!

The Return of a Challenge

If you read my archived blog Arrow & Pen, you may remember that last November, in a bid to fill all that extra time in lockdown, I set myself the challenge to write every night in November. This wasn't about posting a blog every night, more just challenging myself to commit to the practice of writing regularly. It has left me with a plethora of half-written posts, that could be worth finishing! Alongside this, as I have been packing, I have been streamlining my journal collection. Much of what I wrote over the years is irrelevant or tedium, however, I have found myself tearing out a few pages here and there, of lyrics or encouragements, again which I would like to share. Write every night, as a challenge presented itself as an option.

A problem arises. The recollection that writing every night became boresome to me, inspiration waned and the practice shortened. (It did however produce an Advent devotional, but more on that another time). This predicament, coupled with my current diary showing up with quite a few pre-booked events leads my mind straight to believing it to be a no-win situation; I am setting myself up to fail.

Write 5

I take a good look at that thought, is there another way? Yes! I set myself a simpler challenge. To write five posts each week over November. Don't worry if you are subscribed that doesn't mean 5 emails each week from me! Just one round-up of the 5 posts!

Change Your Thoughts

Have you ever revisited a goal, having realised you set yourself an unrealistic strategy? I believe we need to set goals with a realistic view of how we work and how much time and energy we have. Is there a goal you can revisit this month, with a more realistic, winning approach!
