May You See Growth

Hello cafe friends!

I have some exciting news - which *ooops* I was meant to post last week, and only realised as I logged in today, that I had not pressed publish!

For as long as I can remember, whenever I have talked about personal growth or facing challenges, I have used the analogy of building muscles. The story of starting at the gym, and beginning with what seemed like teeny tiny weights, is often one I share with my mentees.

Now I am finally able to be back in a gym, I feel like I'm back to those teeny weights again, but I know, from experience, the more I practice (reps), the more I grow muscle and then I will build up strength, but the exercises themselves are really tedious! Small repetitive movements build strength; step by step we finally find our destination.

See What Grows

When I set my goals for May, I knew the fruit I wanted to focus on was peace. As I process what that meant to me, I found myself doodling flowers and writing the words - "see what grows". So, although I set some goals, I felt peace, that as long as I kept focus, I would see growth. Imagine my delight when I saw this wildflower shoot up in my garden - and in my colour for this year too - a confirmation of the monthly theme.

I had two goals on my twenty-one for twenty-one list, that I just kept looking at. One was to get my podcast off of the ground, the other to launch a fundraiser. Like the wildflower suddenly appearing in my garden, the thought of completing these goals rose up. This felt like the right time.

Contains Caffeine

Grab yourself a cuppa, because here, for your listening delight, is the first episode of Contains Caffeine! I am on a quest to find out what makes people get up and go! Just like a caffeine hit, I am motivated when I chat to people about their passions! This first episode with @jenn_talks was so full of inspiration, passion, coffee and of course my favourite subject - hope! You can listen to it here or subscribe via your chosen podcast app.

Big Spring Read Fundraiser

The second of my goals celebrates another passion of mine, and hopefully helps me reach this year's reading goal!

If you love a cuppa, and a book (or even just the book on its own), I would love you to join in with this fundraiser. The minimum you have to donate is £1 and you don't have to be part of Bookshare or even Faversham to take part.

I love the premise of Children's Book Project, and we chose it as our charity as, like the premise of bookshare, children get to choose the book they want (rather than gifted something they will never read) to find out more click here

I think there is one more adventure for May, one that feels very big. And although I feel a little nervous about it, I am reminding myself that May is about peace, and seeing what grows.
